The Energy Assessment Centre at City Chambers has been established to deal with the latest legislation & European Directive concerning the buying and selling of property and the new requirement for Home Information Packs and more specifically for Energy Performance Certificates. Every property coming onto the market in England and Wales will need an Energy Performance Certificate.

THE ENERGY ASSESSMENT CENTRE is based in Clarence Street in the centre of Gloucester and is structured to assist Local Authorities, housing associations, members of the public, solicitors, estate agents, investors, developers and all parties connected to the housing industry who need or will need an Energy Performance Certificate and data reports.

Energy assessments are carried out by D.E.A's, professionally trained consultants who are qualified and accredited to NHER, one of only five government approved bodies for the scheme.

An Energy Performance Certificate shows the official energy efficiency rating of a property.

The certificate provides you with a rating for the building, showing its energy efficiency and its environmental impact on a scale from A-G (where A is the most efficient and G the least efficient), in graphical format.

The average property in the UK is in bands D-E for both ratings.

Better-rated homes should have less impact through carbon dioxide (Co2) emissions.

The certificate includes recommendations on ways to improve the home's energy efficiency to save you money and help the environment. It also
contains recommended ways to improve the building's energy performance.

By 2009, all buildings in the UK that are constructed, sold or rented out will have to have an Energy Performace Certificate, in accordance with the
European Energy Performance of Buildings Directive.
